Luck

Come and explore the magical Land of Luck with Sam Greenfield voiced by Eva Noblezada and Directed by Peggy Holmes.

Luck was released on the 5th of August 2022 by distributing company, Apple TV+ and animated by animation studio – Skydance Animations, which did an incredible job on the animation that I will get into later.

In Luck, we follow the life of Sam Greenfield, an orphan at the age of 18 who is about to transition into her life as an adult and possibly the luckiest person in the world.

During one of her walks late at night, she comes across a cat by the name of Bob voiced by Simon Pegg, and during that encounter is sent to the never-seen-before Land of Luck.

It is there that Sam meets all sorts of mythical creatures such as Dragons, Unicorns, Roots, and even Leprechauns, and just in case you think I misspelled it, yes I meant Roots lol…

Now the first thing you should be asking yourself is, what tragedy will come of the Land of Luck with the luckiest person in the world hiding amongst them?

But thankfully, it is with the help of the mythical creatures from the Land of Luck that will assist Sam in turning her bad luck into good luck.

Straight off the bat, I could not divert my eyes from the screen as the 3D style of this animation is so good, it’s the perfect blend of animation and realistic features that complement one another so well.

There were moments throughout this film that just left me speechless and gasping for a deep breath as I’m not a fan of heights but I am a sucker for phenomenal animation which this delivers to you on a silver platter.

The Land of Luck aside from being for the extremely lucky should also have a disclaimer that if you’re not a fan of heights and can not fly, maybe consider building an elevator lol… Beautifully animated shoots.

I would normally associate such a great animated film with studios by the likes of Disney or Pixar and yet the attention to detail on the character’s face and expressions were one hundred percent realistic.

Keep us the GREAT work Skydance Animations.

What I found amazing about this film is how it makes you feel as if you, the viewer have been teleported to the Land of Luck.

Everything you know becomes irrelevant, as nothing you know applies in this world. Luck is the only thing that matters, from the pigs being the workers, rabbits being the security and IT specialties, etc. Can you imagine lol…

You genuinely feel as though you are in a completely different world but you know that the unluckiest person is there as well, so you can’t help but wonder what kind of misfortune Sam will bring to those around her.

Luck is without a doubt a great family film that you can watch with your children as it offers a lot of silly gags here and there that will leave you wither laughing from ear to ear or, clinging to your teeth as the chaos unfolds, however, the jokes are easy to understand which is why kids will love this movie nevertheless.

Alongside Eva Noblezada, Luck offers viewers fun-loving interesting characters voiced by an incredible cast by the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Lil Rel Howery, and Colin O’Donoghue, whose performances are truly appreciated.

As for the message of the film, self-worth, and perception. I believe Luck addresses and delivers great essence in today’s world where people value themselves according to how many things go right for them, their bank account, or some other form of material asset.

Luck tries to remind us that it’s not in those material elements that we should find value but in the people that choose to stay with us no matter what.

I could go on and on about everything I loved about this film but then this review would not end, which it should.

So let me know in the comments section below, what you loved and what you take from watching Luck.

Thanks for reading, I appreciate you.Luck

“Oh my gosh, it's like a dream come true. One of the things I thought would be so cool about this story is to have this deep, emotional core, which is Same is someone alone in the world who ultimately gets her forever family.”

Follow the story of Sam Greenfield, who finds herself in the never-before-seen Land of Luck, where she must unite the mythical creatures there to turn her luck around alongside a speaking cat – Bob.
