Seal Team

Fearless seal Quinn assembles a squad of misfit recruits to stand up to ruthless sharks with razor-sharp teeth and reclaim the open sea.

Before I begin the review, I’d like to honor the director Creig Cameron for his first big work with Netflix and for representing South African in the animation industry. It’s no joke when I say South Africa hasn’t put in enough work nor planted enough seeds when it comes to the animation industry, however, after seeing this film, I can happily say, we are on our way.

Quinn is one of those seals that appear once in a lifetime, valuing his friends more than himself and willing to risk it all for a better future, not for himself but all other seals as well. After the tragic death of his best friend Benji, Quinn decides that enough is enough, he meets an old seal that once used to be part of the HMMF and saved him from the biggest shark which rules the seas, together they form the Seal Team.

As with most animation films, comedy is the very essence of the film. We meet some really interesting characters as Geraldo, Switch, Jinx, Beth, and Claggart.

Claggart is the old seal who cut the wrong wire destroying his former team. Geraldo is the seal that escaped the aquarium with only his wits and good looks, Beth is probably the fastest seal to exist even though she’s mostly seen eating at every scene lol, Switch is named just right, one moment his the smartest seal you know the next moment his straight-up crazier than Beth and lastly we have our fearless seal Quinn who’s as fearless as he is stupid.

The moment the sharks were notified of the seals fighting back had me laughing out of control, the one shark that was in the middle of ambushing a human on a jet ski turned away so fast you could feel his frustration at the nerve of seals fighting against the rule of survival of the fittest lol.

The message of the seal team is largely emphasized on teamwork, that you need friends and people you trust to help you overcome your challenges, you don’t have to face it alone no matter how crazy the idea is. Geraldo could never have escaped the aquarium without Jinx, Claggart thought he was fully alone to blame for the exploding mine after fearing to admit that his colorblind when all seals are lol…

I recommend this film for those looking for a good laugh with their children, perfect for family bonding, make it a kiddies movie night and I’m joining. Can’t wait to see what more Creig Cameron and Netflix can muster together.

I read your views on the Seal Team. Teamwork is a key. To get through obstacles, sometimes we need help from friends and people we trust.

I really love what they planned. Teamwork can conquer all the trials that you think are difficult. Believe in yourself and trust your team too.
