Encanto

The Madrigals are a magical family who lives hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charming place called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift for every child except Mirabel.

I’ve seen a lot of Disney movies in the past how many years but none have made me shed tears as many times like this one and that says a lot on its own. This film is so beautiful, the amount of detail on each character is extraordinarily remarkable.

I found myself falling in love with the Columbian culture of family and how different everyone is. The diversity in this film is insane, never have I seen anything that covers so many various lifestyles yet portray it as alluring as Encanto.

Disney has done its best work yet, the animation quality is so spectacular that I thought maybe it’s Pixar instead of Disney at one point. The realism of each detail is splendid to the point everything looks so real, I can only imagine how much work was put into it.

If you take a moment to look at the Madrigals dresses you’ll notice that everyone is wearing something that represents their gift. Pepa is wearing sun earrings representing her gift of the weather, Dolores wears a dress that resembles a WiFi image, representing her gift of sound waves. Mirabel is the only one who’s dress has images of something that represents her entire family which represents that her family means everything to her.

The soundtracks are a mix of Columbian music with a little of rap, pop and so much more, it’s almost a bit of everything for everyone, I at least expect there will be a track you love, mine is the ending track by Carlos Vives – Colombia, Mi Encanto, the one between Mirabel and Isabela and lastly Bruno.

If I had to talk about everything in this film my review would be too long so before I end my review I need to talk about Bruno, the man whose gift was so great but people knowing what was about to happen only took it negatively when all he was trying to do is help. Even after being looked at as the black sheep of the family, he left to protect his family even if that meant living with rats and eating alone.

I cried too many times because of this film, my emotions were all over the place even that couldn’t stop me from watching it for a second time right after the first.

If I had a daughter this would be the first film I’d show her.
