Eternals

Marvel Studios returns with another hit banger, this time focused on the humanoid beings called the Eternals.

The Eternals, a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for seven thousand years, under the orders of Celestial Arishem – The Judge, the Eternals battle the evil Deviants.

There are 10 Eternals in total including the prime eternal. Each possessing superhuman powers, they all possess the following abilities though they may vary in effectiveness with each Eternal. Superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, and healing.

As the first film that we are introduced to the Eternals, many would have questions as to what they had been up to for the last seven thousand years and why they didn’t involve themselves during the Thanos invasion of earth. And we get those answers quickly within 30 mins of the film.

The Eternals are synthetic beings created by the Celestials to protect intelligent life across the universe from the Deviants, they were never to involve themselves in human matters such as conflict or wars. Only to fight and destroy all deviants on earth.

However as time went on and they came near to their goal of exterminating all deviants on earth, Ajak came to realize what made Earth so different from all worlds they had been to before but Arishem had other plans for Earth.

The Eternals themselves started to adapt and change in ways Arishem could never predict, they started to love the Earth and its people in it. They wanted to help them grow and evolve but their abilities and knowledge were too great for the people of that time. Druig who could manipulate human minds wanted to stop all wars but was instructed by Ajak not to interfere as this would result in them not growing and evolving as meant to.

After 5 thousand years since landing on earth, Ajak told Ikaris the real purpose for staying on Earth for long as they had, The Earth would give birth to a new Celestial – Tiamut but for this to happen, human life had to thrive which is why Arishem sent them to eliminate all deviants on Earth as they were hindering the process by killing humans endlessly. This would destroy the Earth.

Now, this is where things become “DC Comics” reminiscent, Ikaris is regarded as the strongest amongst the Eternals on Earth after the death of Ajak. He’s the only Eternal that can fly, shoot laser beams out of his eyes, and have the strength that can rival all other Eternals. If this doesn’t remind you of “Superman” from “DC Comics” then I suggest you start watching some “DC Comics” movies. Superman is regarded as a Hero however, in almost all his films he goes on a rampage causing more death and destruction than he saves.

Same with Ikaris, after hearing the truth his loyalty to Arishem prompts him to reunite with his fellow Eternals and see what they decide on the matter of the lingering Celestial that’s about to be born. When all the other Eternals decide to go against Arishem’s wishes and stop the birth of Tiamut, Ikaris decides to go against his fellow brethren and tries with all his might to stop them but his heart can’t kill them and flees to notify Arishem.

Arishem is not happy with the fact that the Eternals chose to sacrifice a Celestial for the humans and promises to return after watching their memories, he will be the judge on whether to let them live or destroy the Earth.

Watching this film felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride with highs and lows at every scene, my eyes were glued to the screen and ears plugged into the speakers, I never wanted it to end. To think we finally got to meet the Celestial in physical form for the first time, Marvel Studios is on heroine I tell you and I can’t get enough of it.

Eternals has some of the best visuals I have ever seen from Marvel Studios, and Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings are top tiers visually. Storytelling was just majestic as we get to see that some historical events as the Hiroshima bombing were assisted by Phastos who only wanted to help humans develop, Gilgamesh of Babylon was an Eternal.

The potential Eternals has is insane, you could make so many sequels about each Eternal it’s crazy to think about it. I put it in my top 5 Marvel movies of all time. It’s a MUST SEE!!
