Jurassic World Dominion

Director Colin Trevorrow returns with the third installment of Jurassic World Dominion and we have a lot to say about it.

This film was released on the 10th of June 2022 by Universal Pictures with the assistance of production companies Amblin Entertainment, Latina Pictures, and Perfect World Pictures.

Right off the bat, the story kicks off 4 years after from where we left off after the destruction of Isla Nublar, with the world in total confusion about how to live their daily lives with the presence of dinosaurs right in their backyards.

The world is also still searching for Lockwood’s granddaughter Maisie played by Isabella Sermon who’s been confirmed to be the clone of Charlotte Lockwood herself and this film helps to give her purpose and identity.

To be honest, the film isn’t as bad as people say it is on other review sites.

Jurassic World is evolving, I mean we’re living with dinosaurs in our backyards now, they’re no longer kept behind electric fences and this is a big change for any Jurassic World fan.

I loved the reintroduction to the Jurassic Park cast such as Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, and Jeff Goldblum, I think this was a wonderful way to reinstate critical characters that began the franchise.

It can be argued that Jurassic World has lost its true sense of mystery that made us fall in love with the movies in the first place.

For example, when we went over to Isla Nublar in Jurassic World 2: the Fallen Kingdom, there was a sense of mystery that made you feel as if you had left the world you knew and stepped into a completely different one.

However, this film failed to give off that majestic feel and felt more as if I were watching an action film, to be more precise, as if I were watching Taken lol…

There is this one scene that makes no sense whatsoever yet I loved every shoot of it which involves Owen Grady played by Chris Pratt at the underground black market.

He has finally caught the culprit that took his daughter, standing in the middle of a mini arena for dinosaurs, and yet behind him there are two enormous dinosaurs just munching away at the people in the background as if they don’t exist, lol…

There are a bunch of questionable scenes throughout the film, some bad CGI here and there but the process of finding an answer towards coexistence between humans and the dinosaurs is truly fascinating and enjoyable to watch.

Coexistence with such creatures was always going to be a hard one to process, especially when you add a human’s greedy nature and the need to make money.

Dinosaurs are being exploited in so many ways but the most creative one has to be, the dinosaurs that are made into bodyguards, I mean can you imagine?

But give Ellie Sattler some weapons and she’ll wipe the floor with those bodyguards, did you see how she went into dual sword style when she was stuck with the locust, could believe this was the same lady that ran for her life at first.

And finally, Henry Wu’s character played by BD Wong has been avenged after all the hiccups that this man has gone through, I was so glad to see his character finally have a positive turnaround.

Now let’s talk about the new generation of scientists that appeared in this film, without a doubt, Ramsey Cole played by Mamoudou Athie was my favorite new character in this film.

His confidence, his character, I’m so glad he turned out to be part of the good guys, or else I probably would have hated the movie, just kidding.

The world of Jurassic World has changed beyond what we initially started with but at the end of the day, it’s still fun and has an awesome cast that enjoys what their doing.

Haters can hate but this film is still a gem.

Colin Trevorrow

“For me, it's deeply satisfying. I was able to make three movies with two people who are close friends of mine now, and then meet my legacy icon actors who now are friends of mine as well. And so, to be able to look back on this, like a photo album or going through my phone, there are all these pictures. I can watch these movies that I made with my friends and remember a time in my life.”

Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, dinosaurs now live–and hunt–alongside humans all over the world.
