Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Zachary Levi returns as our favorite jack-in-all-trade superhero trapped in a child’s body without the Wisdom of Solomon in – Shazam! Fury of the Gods directed by David F. Sandberg.
Released on the 17th of March 2023 in the United States by distributor Warner Bros.
Having been bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.
However, is The Fury of the Gods strong enough to convince you that it’s a good movie? Let’s dive into the review and find out.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods cannot be saved, not even by Wonder women Gal Gadot herself.
The film makes no effort to hide its CGI/Green screen effects taking place from the get-go, prohibiting you from even trying to enjoy the movie because all your constantly thinking about is the green screen the cast is standing in front of.
I’m still finding it hard to believe that this film was able to bring together such a talented cast of reputable individuals to be a part of this childish, mediocre equivalent to a school play.
There’s this famous quote that South Africans loved to say during Zuma’s Presidential period made even more popular by Trevor Noah during his stand-up comedy shows.
“Pay Back the Money” are the vivid words that crossed my mind after watching this movie, which is more than two hours long mind you.
Not once did any of the Atlas sisters, the main antagonists of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” get hit by any of the male cast, I’m not sure if that’s because humans aren’t allowed to hurt Gods or because they were all women which would incite GBV lol…
All I’m trying to say is that, if action is what you’re looking for in a movie then you better off skipping this film, it’d save you a whole lot of money and time.
Though what I think may be the only redeeming quality of this film, would be its comedic gags between Jack Dylan Grazer and Djimon Hounsou.
Even though the comedy is dry as sandpaper, it at least tries to keep you focused on the story being told, which is very much the same as every “Fast and Furious” movie out there, the answer to everything is – “family” lol…
The costume designs for Meagan Good and Grace Caroline Currey are incredible, even the Gods couldn’t compare – it’s no wonder why Zeus was always being scolded by his wife Hera for not being able to keep his hands to himself, these humans are baddies.
To conclude the review – Shazam! Fury of the Gods has so much potential to be a great film from the trailer but unfortunately falls short due to its terrible CGI effects, back-to-the-80s common villains, and poor storytelling.
I give “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” a 2.7 out of 5 rating.
One star for Meagan Good for being her sexy self, another star for Grace Caroline Currey, and the rest of the 0.7 is awarded to the rest of the movie lol…
Let me know in the comments section below whether you agree with my savage review of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. What a Blunder.
Thank you for reading another review from, LSR.
Until next time, stay away from Shazam!

Even when she does actually show up, the first shot, we framed it like that, but pretty quickly it’s like, “No, no, look, look, she's here! Don't leave the theater, don't get angry!”
