The Bob’s Burgers Movie

The Bob’s Burgers Movie directed by Loren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman has me feeling overwhelmed with disappointment and criticism.

The movie was released on the 27th of May 2022, distributed by 20th Century Studios, and adapted from Bob’s Burgers the sitcom series created by Loren Bouchard.

For a sitcom that’s been running for over eleven seasons, one would expect something different, something creative and long-lasting on the mind however I found very little to go back to.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie does little to cater to anyone that’s never seen the sitcom on FOX but strangely enough, continues its never-ending trend of making the Fishoeders the villains.

Not to mention, for a sitcom that has competed against The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, etc. Its humor is dry and will have you thirsty for a jar of water.

It’s so cringing and boring to the point of no return, I’ve never watched an episode of Bob’s Burgers and after watching the film, I believe I did myself a favor.

I felt as if I were watching an extended episode of an episode that didn’t want to get to the point and end. This is not my cup of coffee.

Bob himself is such a depressing character, the man just oozes despair and negativity that sucks away at you little by little as you continue to watch the film wondering to yourself, SHOULD I HAVE SKIPPED THIS FILM?

The only positive thing I have to say about the film is the wonderful animation that combined its 3D animated background with its 2D characters to make an outstanding visual.

The moment that stood out for me, in particular, was when the Belcher kids decided to go investigate the Fishoeders tree house, the animation quality outdid itself at that moment.

However, either than that. It’s a NO NO for me.

Something was missing and even though I can’t point my finger at exactly what it was, there is some element that just didn’t show itself.

Maybe it’s the fact that this film doesn’t cater to new watchers of the sitcom or perhaps that the film felt like an exaggerated episode, or that the ideas of the film had been rehashed from what the episodes have already done, I don’t know exactly know what it is.

The musical songs are catchy and fun to listen and I wish I could give a nonchalant reaction but I can’t deny it, this is probably the worst animation film it’s watched this year.

"I have to say, especially after seeing the movie, I realised how much I am like Bob. And Ashley, my wife, is a lot like Linda. I feel like our whole family are a lot of Bobs like me and she runs around picking us all up constantly. I definitely resonate with Bob I think the most. I’m also about his age now and I say, ‘Oh God’ a lot."

When a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, secrets are revealed ruining the perfect plans for the Belcher’s summertime.
