The Umbrella Academy: Season 3
Program creators Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater return with their hit time-traveling series The Umbrella Academy: Season 3.
Season 3 was released on the 22nd of June 2022 on Netflix picking up from where we left off in season 2 with The Umbrella Academy returning to their alternative time only to find that they had been replaced by the Sparrows.
It seems as if after averting doomsday in Dallas, Sir Reginald Hargreeves did not approve of the seven children he adopted at the beginning of the series, changed his mind, and decided to adopt another seven instead.
This in turn created another time paradox that would eventually end the world but we find out so much more this season.
What I find interesting about The Umbrella Academy’s third season is that; for a series focused on time travel and paradox as their main threat to existence, it’s not a series one should take to series.
Sure, it’s fun, has a great cast of characters, and superpowers are involved yet it’s nothing to go completely bonkers about in all honesty.
This season especially is all over the place and for those that have not seen the second season in particular I do not recommend watching the third season without watching the previous seasons at the very least.
A lot of this season was foreshadowed from the first and second seasons, for example, Sir Reginald Hargreeves being an Alien was first shown in season 2, same with his wife, Abigail Hargreeves who was first shown in the season finale of season one.
All this time, we thought Sir Reginald had placed Luther on the moon for whatever uncomfortable reason; only for it to be revealed that he was placed there to watch over Abigail Hargreeves.
The Sparrows may look as if they have everything together however behind closed doors they are a complete mess.
While the Umbrella Academy is a complete mess in public but a family behind closed doors that will have each other’s back no matter what, on the contrary, the sparrows will rather hurt one another just to be number one.
Now onto the season finale of the third season.
The finale has left me with more questions than answers all starting with Sir Reginald Hargreeves and Allison Hargreeves.
When the universe was reset by Allison, why is it that everyone else lost their powers and got their limps backs aside for Allison who still has her injuries?
Is this because she never stood on the seven stars and was never used as an energy source to power up Sir Reginald’s alien machine or was this all a part of Sir Reginald’s plan?
The moment between Sir Reginald and Number Five at the edge of the cliff was very telling yet questionable.
We all knew Sir Reginald is an alien but exactly how old is he, or should I ask, how many lives does this thing have?
He spoke about seeing many Kugelblitz in his lifetime, so that confirms that this one in season 3 isn’t the first he’s seen.
He also warns Number Five to move just before the cliff begins to fall, this gives the impression that he has been in this scenario before, meaning he knows the future as well.
Then there’s the ending where we see him and his wife Abigail at the top of the building with almost every other building in their surroundings having the Hargreeves name brand.
Does this set up Sir Reginald and his wife as the main villains of the series?
And then there’s the post-credit scene where we see Ben reading a train on a train, but this isn’t sparrows Ben nor Academy Ben, so how can another ben exist when we already have sparrows Ben; and lastly what happened to Sloane?
The Umbrella Academy only seems to be getting more complicated whilst creating more paradox’s as they go on and I am along for the ride.
I can’t see how things ever return to normal especially since they have seen so much and changed so much after all the things they’ve been through so one question I have is, what are they fighting for anymore?
Let me know in the comments section below what some of your favorite moments of The Umbrella Academy: Season 3 are.

"We wanted to have a big bang for the opening and we had this great moment of Diego's hallucination caused by Jamie, played by Cazzie David. It was a lot of fun for me to think, What would Diego's hallucination be?"
